Growing up in the isolated desert mountains of Wyoming, Jake Vinson would fall asleep beneath the expansive Milky Way, contemplating its size and the insignificance of humankind. Vinson draws inspiration from the unfathomable  generative processes that culminated in the birth of the materials of his trade. He creates beautifully textural ceramics that feel both spontaneous and tightly controlled. His glazes are made from scratch, and are informed by Japanese and Korean ceramic traditions.  Vinson received his BFA in ceramics from Utah State University in 2009 where he studied under John Neely and Daniel Murphy, among other renowned artists.
